Adventure is worthwhile. – Amelia Earhart
Water Festival in Khmer is pronounced Bon Om Touek.
The next few days were pretty tame. The water festival was on, and to be honest the boat races really weren’t that excellent.
I missed the first day of the races as I had to go to the doctor because I got bitten by a dog. It wasn’t a bad bite or anything, barely pierced the skin. But it made me worry about rabies and whatever so I went to the doctor just for peace of mind. That peace of mind cost me like $150 bucks though and insurance won’t cover it. Grrr..
I still saw the night events of the festival which included a lot of music, food and colourful lights.
There isn’t that much to say about the festival. Firstly that night I went to and had a Khmer full body massage, I still haven’t decided if I was sexually violated that time. She basically used her whole body to massage my body. I had hands on my butt, her feet massaging my thighs, her elbows on my pelvic region, and she sat on me the entire massage. Then we both thought there was gunfire, but it turned out just to be fireworks.
So it was from there I headed out to the festivities, where I saw all the food, stalls, and music. I stood and watched a woman sing The Eagles for a while. Then just wandered around the streets, bought some popcorn, and later on I bought some street food and sat on some steps just taking in all the lights and people while I ate.
I wandered around for ages trying to find the right food stall, this lady was cooking with flames dancing high so I bought meat from her. It was good.
The next day I went to see the boat race, which was boring actually. Once again I wandered around the stalls for a bit, then I ate the nicest fruit salad ever at Sister Srey Cafe while avoiding the rain and then I think I just had a lazy day.
